I believe education is about instilling a set of positive ideas and values which form and shape children into who and what they will become later on in life. As a teacher, I understand that I have a great responsibility of engaging my students which I will do with my passion for education, enthusiasm, organizational skills, past and present knowledge and expertise, and my genuine interest and concern for the success of my students’ learning and well-being. I believe that every student should have a positive and fulfilling experience in my
classroom.
In my classroom, students will learn in an open and caring learning environment. They will be independent individuals who are respectful and kind to one another. Learning will be facilitated through self-discovery with the use of various differentiated teachingpractices. A sense of community will be instilled daily promoting positive relationships, empathy, and learning to embrace our differences as well as talents.
After considering my past endeavors as a student, leader, and mother, educating the young minds of today feels like the perfect journey for me. As I reflect upon past experiences with my fellow teachers, I will always embrace how interesting, fun, and informative my journey to becoming a teacher has been. My most favorite teachers always kept things interesting and challenging and demonstrated good energy behind what they were doing. I plan on making student engagement a top priority in addition to using cooperative learning,
guiding students to self-discovery, and fostering a diverse and open learning environment. In my classroom, confidence, a positive self-image, and respect are personal skills that will be encouraged and developed. There will be a daily focus to embrace learning and to build upon their individual skills, to help them apply what they have learned to relevant life-long situations throughout their childhood into adulthood.
Being the student’s guide during their year long journey with me will allow me to exercise attributes and traits I possess such as knowledge, skills, patience, creativity, and passion. I also believe that using variation of assessments either formal and informal are critical to the learning process. I plan on putting in effect journal prompts, quizzes, essay writing, interactive notebooks, portfolios, and cooperative group activities, to mention a few, to ensure my students are learning and understanding the content as well as secure my
philosophy of teaching is aligned with the students’ styles of learning.
As an educator, I understand that learning is a lifelong process and that I am not only facilitating learning, but that I too must be an engaged learner. That is why personal growth is important to me. In order to teach to the best of my abilities and to the various levels of my students’ learning, I must maintain and increase my knowledge base of instructional strategies. My personal aspiration is to continue investing and enhancing my education by pursuing higher education. I believe that this will benefit me, but most important it will benefit my students. From my experience I have witnessed that collaborating with fellow educators, administrators, and faculty members will add value to my expertise and complement theirs as well. I have concluded that passion should be shared because it has the power to enlighten and inspire those around me.
